Seed Supply

At Sengodu Foundation, we recognize that access to high-quality seeds is essential for promoting agricultural productivity and food security. However, many small-scale farmers, particularly those from low-income and rural communities, face challenges in accessing high-quality seeds that are well-suited to their local environment and farming practices.

We work towards improving seed supply by providing farmers with access to high-quality, locally adapted seeds that are well-suited to their local environment and farming practices. Our seed supply programs focus on developing and distributing high-quality seeds that are adapted to local growing conditions and providing training and support to farmers on seed selection, planting, and harvesting techniques.

Our seed supply programs also focus on promoting seed diversity, including traditional and heirloom varieties, to help preserve biodiversity and promote sustainable agriculture practices. We work closely with local farmers, seed producers, and seed banks to identify the most pressing seed supply needs and develop solutions that are tailored to local contexts.

In addition to providing access to high-quality seeds, we also work towards promoting seed sovereignty, which is the right of farmers to save, exchange, and sell seeds that are adapted to their local environment and farming practices. Our programs focus on promoting seed sovereignty by supporting local seed production, seed saving, and seed exchange networks, and advocating for policies that protect seed sovereignty and promote sustainable agriculture practices.

By improving seed supply and promoting seed sovereignty, we help to promote agricultural productivity, food security, and biodiversity conservation. We believe that access to high-quality seeds is essential for building resilient communities and ensuring a sustainable future for all.
